User Name, Password, and Group in IRis 3.0.

In case you converted data from IRis 2.3:

Your User ID will be converted, so you can use your User ID from IRis 2.3 in IRis 3.0. However, password you were using in IRis 2.3 will not be converted. So if you want to login into IRis 3.0 for the first time after conversion, type in your User ID, leave Password field blank, and click on “Login” button. User ID and a Password are case sensitive. You can setup User, Password, and Group in IRis 3.0 when you go to Tools – Security – Users and Tools – Security – Group.

It is recommended that you setup a group and select its “Activity Permission” first: Simply create a group, and specify which activities the group should and should not be allowed to do. For now, you start with two basic groups – administrators and general users.

After groups are created, you can setup users with specific ID’s and Passwords and attached them into groups. A user may only be attached to one group at a time.

For more details please go to Help – Contents – IRis setups.

#1 Tech Tip

Q We just bought a new server. What is the best way to move IRis from the existing server to the new one?

A With IRis 2.3, all you need to do (after setting up the new server) is: Go to the IRis folder on the old server, R-click on it, select Copy, navigate to the correct drive on the new server, R-click and choose Paste.
