The AIRS XML Data Migration
Project: What is it and how will it be used?
This
project will eventually enable the sharing of resources data across software
vendor packages. Vendors who incorporate a tool in their software to facilitate
this exchange, based on criteria defined by AIRS, will be listed as “compliant”
on the AIRS web site.
So how far
is SunCoast? As one of the four vendors chosen to participate in the United Ways
of Michigan grant project, SunCoast completed the import/export routine for IRis
3.0. We are now working to implement the interface into IRis. Basically, the
backend programming is done, and we’re working on the part our customers will
use. In order for the XML tool to work its magic, the AIRS data standard
committee had to choose a data structure for uniformity. This means that another
layer will be added to the IRis structure, and some of the terminology used will
change. The new layer is called “Sites”. Release of the Sites Module is expected
in 2005. For tips to ensure a smooth transition to the new
Agencies-Sites-Services structure, click here.
You can also find out more about the XML project at the AIRS web
site.
Use of
the XML data transfer tool is optional for IRis 3.0 customers. Cost of the
utility tool is $1000 for the first year, and $700 for each renewal year.
